About this activity
No matter which sightseeing option you choose, you’ll experience a blend of St Martin's colonial past with its modern present as you visit both sides of the Caribbean island, settled by the Dutch and the French in the 1600s. As you tour the island with your guide, learn how the two sides joined forces against the Spanish, dividing the 37-square-mile (60-square-km) island almost equally between them into Dutch St Maarten and French St-Martin.
After pickup from your Philipsburg hotel, venture first to Grand Case Beach, one of the most tranquil and beautiful of St Martin's coastline. Here, on the north end of the French side, walk along the crystal-white sand and admire the pristine, clear blue water that mirrors the sky. Sunbathe, swim or stroll at your leisure, basking in the tropical sun.
The visit the village of Grand Case, where you can try guavaberry rum punch or simply enjoy a soda or beer. If you choose, dine on a local dish, such as chicken legs or Johnny Cake – a fried cornmeal pancake – for lunch (own expense).
Next, head to the quaint village of Marigot. Delight in the European ambiance of the town, where colonial streets lined with shops and the open-air bazaar offer plenty of duty-free shopping opportunities if you’re interested.
Then, visit Maho Beach and hold your breath as you watch airplanes fly close above as they approach the runway at nearby Princess Juliana International Airport. Your tour ends with a drive through Simpson Bay on your return to your hotel.

I had asked as I always do for a PRIVATE TOUR...i have used Viator before andvi have NEVER taken a bus i have ALWAYS gone with private guide and car not a CATTLE CAR! no one to speak to all the phone contact#s on your website do NOT FUNCTION...miserable experience period!
We were amazed at the hurricane destruction on this island. We've heard a lot about Puerto Rico but St Maarten was much worse. Our tour took us all around the island to all the major tourist stops. It was a wonderful tour but I can only imagine what the island was like before the storm. Our driver was great and generous with various tasty drinks at almost every stop. Our bus was totally crammed and the air conditioning was sketchy but it did the job. I wish Viator would provide a good map of each stop to help us locate our tour operator. The announced pickup times and directions are totally inaccurate on this and virtually every tour we've taken with Viator.
This was the worst tour I have ever taken in the 16 cruises I have been on. Bus was bad people just got on the tour without paying
Our guide was brilliant and his rum punch was lethal but good.
Great staff and very knowledgeable Claudiahost, greeter and Wellingtontour guide were amazing people.. Thanks for having such wonderful staff and very friendly..
I really enjoyed this tour! Although, I went a couple weeks ago and seen a lot of damage from the hurricane but looks like they are rebuilding the island. I had Bert as my tour guide and was the only one on this Sunday tour. Bert was an excellent tour guide. He was very knowlegeable about the island and provided interesting facts. He took pictures for me at various stops. He offered refreshing drinks soda, water on the tour which was a nice treat! I highly recommend this tour with Bert as you will learn all about the island and it's history.
This island is a mess from the hurricane and it was an education to see it first hand. This tour bus with Amigo tours was lead by Burt and Claudia. They were very nice to us and really helped us to enjoy the island as there were a good variety of stops.
We had a great tour with Wellington! He was very helpful, catering the tour as he could to our interests and giving us lots of history of both sides of the island. It also helped that he spoke French and Spanish in addition to English. It was nice to have stops at beaches on both sides of the island too, and we had nice shopping in Marigot. We'd highly recommend this tour!!
