Great trip ,very organised and a very competent guide.our guide made the trip very interesting and was a credit to your company
The tour of Pompeii and the tour guide was absolutely wonderful. While it was very hot in Pompeii the guide did her best to keep us in the shade. Pompeii is a very large place without much protection from the weather and the surface is hard and uneven. The worst part of the tour was congregating at the cruise ship terminal waiting for the tour to begin. The taxi drivers were loud and aggressive. It was very difficult to identify which tour I was a part of.
After other tours through Viator I had high hoped for this one, but was disappointed. We met a guide outside of our cruise ship who instructed us to wait on our driver. The bus that picked us up was already full of people from other areas of towns (other ships, hotels, etc), which was not a big deal. There was very little communication prior to boarding and during the drive to Pompeii; a little more history of Naples and the surrounding communities would have been nice as we drove to the historical site. Once we arrived in Pompeii there was even less communication on where we were going and it felt like we wasted about 45 minutes to an hour waiting on the guides to get their act together. We were funneled into even larger groups as we prepared to enter the site. It was hard to follow the guide, and the tour was so fast paced (almost like the guide couldn't wait to get done and get rid of us) that you could barely snap a photo, catch your breath, or look around before being left in the dust. After the tour ended, there was a lot of confusion on where we were supposed to be picked up. We were not going back on the same bus with the same group that we arrived with, and no one seemed to know for sure how we were supposed to split up. After wasting yet another hour or so we finally boarded the bus back to Naples. They wanted to charge 1 euro for semi-chilled water (most tours offered a free bottle so I was surprised that they charged). No other information was given after we boarded the bus and we were left to make our own decisions if we were at our correct destination. I would not recommend this tour. There are others out there that would do better.
One issue with this tour was that it was unclear on the printed ticket/directions where to meet up with our guide once we got off of the cruise ship. However, I called the tour agency directly in Naples and they were very helpful in pointing the way outside of the main gate of the terminal. Also the air on the bus there was not working so it was stifling in the 90 degree heat but they switched out the buses for the return trip. The tour itself was terrific. Our guide, Maria, knew her stuff about Pompeii and made the town come to life in the time we had. Overall I would recommend.
The pick up for the tour was seamless. The tour guide was very good. She told us stories about what took place in Pompeii and the way city life was prior to the eruption. We walked around the city, but we missed a lot that was there. We did not go to the large amphitheater or other notable parts of Pompeii. I thought at the time it was because we were limited on time and needed to return to the bus. The fact was she needed to get people who were continuing on to Mt. Vesuvius to get back on the bus. AFTER, we left the confines of Pompeii we were told we had an hour to eat or visit the souvenir shops. I would have rather spent my hour inside the city to see the parts we missed. Instead we were left to eat at overpriced outdoor restaurant and look at the souvenirs under tents which all had the same souvenirs and looked like a cheap flea market. After we were finally walked back to the bus, we waited an extra 20 minutes for another tour group to finish their tour so they could ride back with us. What a waste of our precious time.
This was such a great excusion! Our tour guide was fantastic and funny. She took us to see all the highlights and was very knowledgeable. Would definitely book again.
Tour guide was great and informative, got to see so many interesting sights. Tour was about 2 hours long which was great for us as we didn't want to be out in the heat for too long. Bus picked us up at the port and dropped us back after the tour was over. Highly recommend!
Loved it, but wish we had more time to explore!
Loved it. They picked us up/dropped off pretty close to our Airbnb. Because they pick up, you spend a little more time in the van than I anticipated but it was really comfortable. When we arrived in Pompeii, the tour guide was wonderful, knowledgeable and funny. Definitely recommend.
