Close Encounter with the Famous Azorean Cows

Itinerary

We depart from the meeting point early in the morning, the starting hour might be different depending on the farmer´s schedule (we will advise). This is the time of the day when island farmers start their hard routines of cow graze and milking. Your local guide will take you to meet the happy and popular Azorean cows, grown in the greenest of fields overlooking the ocean. During the drive you will have the chance to see the the island from a different perspective as light falls in a magic way, over the mountains and roads of São Miguel, early morning. Once on the farmers field you will have the chance to learn about milk, dairy and meat production, told by a local farmer, and understand why this is one of the most special and important Azorean products. You will be in the middle of the action, and although milking the cows nowadays is a machine made process, you will have the unique chance to take milk from the cows yourself, with your own hands, and taste it if you wish!

A traditional snack is also provided during this tour, to start your day with energy. This experience takes about 2h. Take as many photographies as you like during it!
