We had a wonderful day touring Furnas sites and would recommend this tour to other families with older children (ours were 13 and 15). Our voucher said we would be traveling in an air-conditioned motor coach. Instead, we were the only group on the tour and our guide, Pedro, picked us up in an older Land Rover with no air. However this turned out to be a blessing in disguise because Pedro took us down some cool streets that a bus would never have made it through. Pedro was very friendly and knowledgeable of the island and narrated for us the entire time. Highlights were a waterfall stop, tea plantation (which would not have been as enjoyable without a guide to explain), hot steam vents where we saw our stew pot being removed from underground (very cool!). Lunch with traditional Portuguese stew - not for picky eaters but good for us and lots of wine. To cap things off we had a lovely time at the botanical garden (Terra Nostra) and bath in the hot thermal pool. Highly recommend this tour. Thanks Pedro!
