Pass By: Igreja da Trindade, Praca Trindade 115, Porto 4000-539 Portugal
Come at the heart of the city centre to join this walking food tour of the Old Town. Meet your guide in central Porto, a professional sommelier that will show you the beauty of the city and the secrets of its food and wine heritage.
Pass By: Capela das Almas, Rua de Santa Catarina 428 Esquina com a Rua Fernandes Tomás, a 30 metros do Bolhão-Porto, Porto 4000-444 Portugal
-
Pass By: Rua Santa Catarina, Porto 4000-447 Portugal
-
Stop At: Mercado do Bolhao, Rua Formosa, Porto 4000-214 Portugal
This lovely marketplace is where farmers came to sell their fruit and vegetables. Nowadays is under renovations.
Close to the market, start your food tour with one of Northern Portugal’s most famous dishes, the BIFANA, a small sandwich consisting of a light and crusty bread roll filled with sautéed strips of pork which have been seasoned with garlic and marinated with a closely guarded recipe of spices for hours. To pair this flavorful dish we have chosen a light, fresh and effervescent wine from Portugal’s most distinctive wine region, Vinho Verde.
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Porto City Hall, R. Clube dos Fenianos 5, Porto 4000-172 Portugal
This magnificent building is one of the most significant historical monuments of Porto, with its large clock centred in the building’s 70-meter tower, keeping time over the avenida in a most regal way.
Close to the surrounding area, we invite you to discover a traditional wine bodega and its hundreds of Portuguese wines. Here we will taste an indigenous Douro Valley variety called Viosinho, a full-bodied but fresh, fragrant, well-balanced wine perfectly paired with a CHARCUTERIE board of locally sourced cheeses and cold meats.
Duration: 30 minutes
Pass By: Igreja do Carmo, Rua Carmo, Porto 4050-164 Portugal
-
Stop At: Igreja dos Carmelitas, Rua Carmo Vitória, Porto 4050-164 Portugal
The 3rd stop of our food tour is close to the Carmo and Carmelita churches and it is another great local spot, known for its ALHEIRA dish, a flavorful sausage made with meat, bread and spices. Our wine pairing here will consist of a powerful full-bodied red from one of Portugal’s most important wine regions, the Dão.
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Praca dos Leoes, Praca Gomes Teixeira, Porto 4099-002 Portugal
A fountain or a piece of art? Probably both.
There are rumors about the Fountain of the Lions inspiring J.K. Rowling in creating her magical realm of Harry Potter when she was living in Porto…
Close to the fountain, we will visit a typical family-style restaurant, known for their traditional Portuguese dishes. Here we’ll sample perfectly made PATANISCAS de BACALHAU, a codfish fritter made with an egg battered flour, parsley, onions and salt. We will pair it with a fresh and invigorating Alvarinho, a northern Portuguese grape that is irresistibly aromatic with hints of lemon zest twined with pear and white peach fruit.
Duration: 30 minutes

Loved this tour! Amauri was such a friendly guide, showing us some of the local spots in Porto. We got to taste delicious Portuguese wines and food (loved the bifana!) and I felt like I got a good snapshot of the culinary scene while meeting other travelers. The guide was knowledgable and it was clear he had a passion for this city. It was definitely a highlight of my trip to Porto!
