About this activity
Join your small group at 9am in Prague's city center and climb aboard a comfortable air-condition bus to begin your 5-hour tour to Terezín. Built as a military fortress by Emperor Josef II, Terezín is more closely tied to World War II. Known as Theresienstadt concentration camp, the walled garrison town's main fortress served as a holding camp for Jewish people from all across Europe and was exploited for Nazi propaganda purposes during a Red Cross visit in 1944. The lesser-known Small Fortress was a prison run by the Reich’s secret police, the Gestapo.
During the bus ride, listen as your guide shares insights into the events leading up to World War II and the Holocaust. Begin your tour at the museum located in the Large Fortress, formerly an all-boys school, which details the personal experiences of prisoners held here. Then, view an authentic propaganda film before moving on to the cemetery and crematorium.
Cross the river and discover the conditions that centuries of prisoners had to endure at the Small Fortress. See the cell of Franz Josef's assassin and learn about the cramped quarters and firing squads of the Holocaust era. This trip provides a powerful, personal look into some of the darker moments in history, but also highlights the strength and resilience of the faith maintained by its inhabitants.
Return to the departure point in central Prague five hours later.

I probably wont be able to describe with words all the feelings and emotions that came to me while in this tour. Besides being a learning experience, it touched my life in many way, since I have met people and fiends lost family members during the Holocaust. Our tour guide was a lovely and well knowledgeable young lady named Lucie, or Lucia and our driver Thomas. The trip took less than an hour from Prague, she gave us more history and information than I expected. She even passed around photographs of individual, and places related to events at Terezin, Prague and the war so we could understand what she was talking about. The sentiments and feelings she transmitted while narrating the history of Prague, WWII, Terezin, the children and people of Terezin, many other characters and many real life events got us immersed into what Terezin was really about. She recounted history with real fact events and passion. Being at Terezin was a life changing experience. One thing is to hear stories, but another one is to be there, where it happened and see what it looked like. I give this tour a 5, and highly recommend Premier Tours to anyone who wishes to take this tour to Terezin. We choose the half day tour and honestly, saw everything! To me having such a well prepared tour guide, who knew her job well and narrated events in a concise and real manner was important. We had an extra tour guide at Terezin, a young man who actually works there. From seeing where they slept, showered, ate, were tortured, walked the dark tunnels, went to the cementera, the crematorium, the museum it was a unique experience. I give this tour a gold medal and will recommend it to anyone who asks me! Thank you Lucie, Thomas and Premier Tours for their professionalism. I must add it was a small tour, which Ive always found to be a better experience, rather than big motor Coach Tours!!!!
The tour guide was good. We left at 9 am and arrived back at Prague at 2 pm. A lunch stop would have been nice. Information was very sobering. Well done by tour guide. We were not sure what to expect, and glad we took this tour.
it was well organized and we were back on time .... perhaps it could be longer to have more time in the ghetto...
