About this activity
At 9am get picked up from your centrally located Prague hotel and get ready to escape the hustle and bustle of the city on this 8-hour private tour to Křivoklát Castle and Mníšek Pod Brdy.
Jump aboard the air-conditioned minivan and perhaps make use of the free WiFi to upload photographs as you drive through the beautiful countryside of Central Bohemia. Around one hour later arrive at Křivoklát Castle, one of the oldest castles of the Czech kings and home to Queen Elizabeth (wife of Jan of Luxembourg) after a fire in Prague Castle in 1316. Out of season, the Křivoklat castle is open to us.
After exploring the fairytale-like castle, with its rooks and turrets, take a break for lunch at a local Czech restaurant. Then, it's time to go to the chateau in Mníšek Pod Brdy about which written records date back to 1348. Learn the history of the building, from its changes in ownership through damage by war and fire. Restored in 1910, it was ransacked again in 1945 and then seized by the state. Learn about the restoration project and explore the lives of the Czech nobility between the world wars before heading back to central Prague, arriving around 7pm.
