Stop At: Historic Centre of Kutna Hora, Kutna Hora Czech Republic
Visiting Kutna Hora is like traveling a few hundred years back in time. The fame and glory of this town, now listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, began in 1142 end grew mostly thanks to silver mining. It's mining heritage is present everywhere in Kutná Hora, including the most significant symbol and the pride of the town’s miner being the Gothic jewel of St. Barbara’s Church.
You will learn quite a bit about the Kutná Hora history throughout the centuries, both hard facts and interesting bits of information like why would anyone design a huge chandelier using every type of bone in human body. I will also talk to you about whatever you want to know about the present - how we live, what are habbits are, where are the differences and what we have in common.
Duration: 2 hours
Stop At: St Barbara's Cathedral, Barborska Street, Kutna Hora 284 01 Czech Republic
A jewel of the Late Gothic period and one of the four cathedral-type buildings in Bohemia, was incribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The splendor of this structure is tangible testament to the fame and riches of the silver Kutná Hora as well as of the deep devotion of its creators.
Duration: 1 hour
Stop At: The Cemetery Church of All Saints with the Ossuary, Zamecka, Kutna Hora 284 03 Czech Republic
After a lunch in a local tavern something truly unforgettable awaits you. Imagine the most interesting burial grounds in the world - a church made of 40.000 human bones. The design of the Sedlec Ossuary is haunting and fascinating at the same time.
Duration: 1 hour
Stop At: The Cathedral of Assumption, U Zastavky, Kutna Hora 284 03 Czech Republic
While I the bone chapel impresses me every time, my favorite stop of this trip is the nearby Cathedral of Assumption of Our Lady, designed by a famous architect Jan Blažej Santini. If you decide to walk with me all the way to the cathedral’s attic, you will not only enjoy a breathtaking view, but you might truly feel the presence of God here.
