Prague's Royal route
3h30
About this activity
Walk through the most beautiful and interesting route in the city, through the Old Prague.
The Royal Route you won´t find on any map. The name was given to a route, which for many centuries had been taken by the Czech kings in a procession to their coronation in the St. Vitus Cathedral at the Prague castle.
Our driver and the guide will pick up you at your hotel. You will start your tour at the Republic Square where in the past stood the Royal Court - the residence of Czech kings. This time still reminds the gothic Powder Tower. Today you can see at this square theatre Hybernia, National Bank or Municipal House, Art Nouveau architecture style building with famous Smetana concert hall inside.
You will continue through the street Celetná, one of the oldest streets in Prague, and you will come to the Old Town Square - the heart of the city. The square features the most interesting historical sights like gothic Church of Our Lady before Týn with 80 metres high towers, medieval astronomical clock called Prague Orloj on the Old Town Hall, baroques St. Nicholas church, art museum of the Czech National Gallery in Kinsky Palace or statue of religious reformer Jan Hus.
Through the street Karlova, the most frequented tourist route, you will come to the Charles bridge, next landmark of the city. The bridge is protected by three towers and decorated by 30 statues and statuaries. You will cross this 621 metres long and nearly 10 metres wide old bridge and enjoy amazing panoramic view of the Prague castle.
Last stop on your way will be the Lesser Town Square which was created like a marketplace and was the center of the town. This square is divided into the upper and lower parts with the second St. Nicholas church in the middle.
At this square our tour will end, our guide will say you goodbye and our driver will drop off you back to your hotel.
