About this activity
Get picked up from your centrally located Prague hotel at around 8:45am, ready for your 10-hour private tour. Head out of Prague on a 1-hour drive by air-conditioned minivan to Český Šternberk Castle, an iconic monument dating back more than 760 years. The castle was built in 1241 and has stayed in the hands of the original family for more than 20 generations. Admire the well-appointed rooms and experience different eras through the architectural styles represented, including rococo, Biedermeier, Empire, and baroque.
Afterward, tour Žleby Chateau, an impressive structure that looks to be straight out of a fairy tale. The Gothic castle dates to the late 13th century, and was rebuilt in 1849. Admire the remarkable collections of antiquities; historical guns, glass, porcelain, and ceramics, and also the collections of stained glass, paintings, textiles, and furniture dating from the Renaissance to the 20th century.
After indulging in a hearty Czech meal at a local restaurant, drive to the monumental chateau in Kačina. Built by Jan Rudolf Chotek in the early part of the 19th century, the chateau is one of the Czech Republic's most important buildings in the Empire architectural style. Continue to a part of Kutná Hora known as Sedlec. According to legend, the abbot of the Sedlec monastery, Jindrich, brought a handful of dirt from the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem in the 13th century and spread it on the monastery graveyard. The graveyard became a holy ground, part of the Holy Land, and subsequently an important burial site for not only Bohemia, but also Poland, Bavaria, and Belgium. Today’s chapel is the result of baroque renovations carried out by Jan Blazej Santini. Most famously, the chapel’s decoration is formed exclusively by human bones, prepared by carver Frantisek Rint.
After exploring the offbeat chapel, head back to the minivan for the drive back to Prague, arriving at your hotel at around 7pm.

Great all day tour. Our driver took us to two castles, and - per the provider's suggestion based on the fact we were a family with kids 6 and 9 years of age - to a wild life reserve, which was very entertaining and unusual. We then still visited the bone chirch, and arrived back to Prague in time for dinner. The driver also suggested an earlier start we left hotel at 8AM to make better time and traffic. This was fine with us as well. The driver spoke very little English, but he found us guides in both castles we visited, and they were very informative and interesting to listen to. Castles are very well kept and are beautiful with history and interior. We had lunch at a very local looking spot, that is used to catering to this kind of group. Lunch includes a drink or a beer - or a non-alcoholic beer as well. Our driver had one :- Don't be alarmed, it is really non-alcoholic. Nature reserve worked better than doing three castles, based also on the experience by our friends with kids who also took this tour and opted for three castles instead. In the reserve, they do a flight demonstration of birds of prey, which is amazing. The animals there are tamed, since most of them are unsuitable for life in the wild due to some circumstance badly injured or orphaned as a baby, kept as a pet then rejected, etc. The reserve also has beautiful white deer population. The bone church is a short stop, as it is small, but impressive. If you feel it is crowded, wait a few minutes, as a large tour group might be passing through, and once they go back to their transport, there will be lots more room for photos, etc. Between places, staring at the countryside is very relaxing, and feeds imagination of being in the past.
Beautiful trip. Great lunch. Wonderful guide and driver.
