Your day begins with a morning pickup by air-conditioned minivan from the center of Prague.

Relax and enjoy the countryside views on the roughly 1-hour drive to Karlštejn Castle. Upon arrival, learn about how this is one of the most visited castles in the Czech Republic. Built by Charles IV between 1348 and 1355, it originally served to safeguard the imperial and royal treasures and the crown jewels, as well as the archive of state documents.

After a 30-minute walk uphill to the castle gates, your guide leads you on an hour-long tour of the interiors. Get acquainted not only with the history of the castle, but with the life of Charles IV and the fine arts that flourished during his reign.

Your tour concludes with a drop-off back in central Prague.

It was important to me to see this since i had been there 50 years earlier. The countryside was beautiful in Oct ! We were attached to a group and tour was given in English for us and another language so explanations were brief. I was disappointed not to be able to show my husband the chapel which is the most beautiful and interesting room that I remembered. We were told that it was only opened for a few days/yr or maybe just for special people.
