Wilder Side Hike to Karlstejn Small Group Tour from Prague

Itinerary

From the main railway station in Prague we'll take the train out of the city, just like the locals! Take in the unique buzz of families and friends getting together for a day in the great outdoors.

Our hike starts here in the riverside village of Srbsko, at the heart of Český Kras nature reserve. Your guide is lucky enough to live here in this picturesque spot!

Our route takes us alongside the Berounka River and up to the village of Tetín, one of the Czech Republic’s oldest settlements and the site of the murder of St Ludmila. Grandmother of St Wenceslas and an early figurehead in the spread of Christianity in Bohemia, Ludmila was exiled for her faith before retiring to Tetín where, on the orders of her daughter-in-law, she was strangled with her scarf. Apart from this grim history, it's a charming village built into a rocky precipice with lovely river views.

Passing through the tranquil forests of Koda nature reserve, we emerge into idyllic Czech countryside. The little village of Korno sits among bucolic fields and meadows.

Our hike ends in the picturesque village of Karlštejn, famous for the castle built by Charles IV to house the crown jewels. You can stop for refreshments or a bite to eat in one of the traditional family-run taverns in the village if you like. From here your guide will see you safely onto the train back to Prague.
