The Voortrekker Monument, designed by the architect Gerard Moerdijk, is a National Heritage Site. This massive granite structure is prominently located on a hilltop, and was raised to commemorate the Voortrekkers who left the Cape Colony between 1835 and 1854.

Designed and built by Herbert Baker and completed in 1913, the Union Buildings housed the administrative offices of the Union of South Africa. Today it is still the official seat of government and houses the offices of the President of South Africa. The building is made from light sandstone and is over 275m long.

The Premier Mine is an underground diamond mine owned by Petra Diamonds in the town of Cullinan, 40 kilometres east of Pretoria, Gauteng Province, South Africa. Established in 1902, it was renamed the Cullinan Diamond Mine in November 2003 in celebration of its centenary.
