About this activity
The tour starts in Punta Cana where you will be transferred to a bus for a one hour ride to Casa de Campo. Here, you will visit Altos de Chavon, a replica of an Italian medieval town. Sculpted in stone, the site is an impressive example of what a Mediterranean-inspired village would have looked like on the island long ago. Altos de Chavón's main attraction is the 5,000, Roman-style amphitheater. Frank Sinatra was the first to perform here in 1982, and the venue has since hosted stars like Marc Anthony, Shakira, Sting and Gloria Estefan.
Later on you will have a ride on the Chavon River, enjoying exclusive cocktails and delicious snacks. Relax onboard and admire the wild nature of the surrounding area.
Get ready for the next attraction which is a sail cruise onboard a catamaran, which will bring you to the jewel of the Caribbean Sea - Catalina Island. Equipped with masks, snorkels and fins you will explore the region with your guide. The Wall, a top snorkeling destination in Dominican Republic, is a must see spot with an abundance of tropical fish and unique corals.
You will stop at paradisiac Playa Grande on Catalina Island for a buffet lunch, a swim in the turquoise water or to just simply relax under the palm trees.
Around 3pm we will navigate back to Casa del Campo, so you will have another hour of relaxation while sailing in the waters of the lovely Caribbean Sea. Upon reaching the pier in Casa del Campo, the tour will head back via bus and arrive in Punta Cana around 5pm.

This is was a great trip. Catalina Island was a beautiful as Saona Island. The buffet lunch there was very good. Altos de Chavon was interesting. A recreation of a 16th century town. A couple nice museums and restaurants. The restaurants were not open yet given that we arrived fairly early in the day. I would certainly recommend this as a very easy-paced day tour from Punta Cana.
