About this activity
Join our Northern Lights Deluxe tour for the exciting hunt for the Northern Lights (or Aurora Borealis). Intimate and comfortable experience guaranteed as there will be no more than 18 passengers with you on a minibus.
The adventure begins when you are picked up from your hotel or guesthouse in Reykjavik (please check pick-up details) and sit back comfortably in the minibus. Right after you have been picked up from your preferred location you will make your way away from the light pollution of the city in a search for the best place to spot the spectacle of the Lights.
Our experienced guide will make sure you get to know fascinating stories and facts about the Northern Lights, including both scientific information and local tales. You will get a hot chocolate and a blanket to warm up and Icelandic sweets which will keep you awake.
Your exciting hunt will lasts between 3 and 5 hours - depending on when and if the lights decide to show and how far away we need to drive for clear skies. It is important to dress warmly - take good clothes and shoes as Icelandic winters can be really frosty!
Remember that the Northern Lights are as magnificent as they are unpredictable: we can never guarantee sightings, even though we would really love to. If you don't spot any Lights on your Deluxe tour, you are more than welcome to join the Northern light Bus tour on another night for free!
So, don't wait too long, book your tour, take your camera and join our winter adventure hunting! Let the show begin!

This tour was great attended in March 2018 - Konrad was friendly and entertaining and kind enough to send us his photographs afterwards. Would highly recommend but would suggest bringing a tripod if you would like to take your own pictures.
I have no problem with the tour company - they cannot control the weather or the possibility of Northern Light sightings. We left Reykjavik and spent 5 hours looking for an opening in the clouds to see the Northern Lights, but never even saw stars. In reality, you probably are not going to see them as depicted in the post cards - a lot of those are made on perfect nights with time exposure. I talked with a local who told me that there are only a few nights each year that viewings are magnificent. My daughter and I finally saw a small glimpse of them when we walked to an area in Reykjavik where light pollution was minimal and we saw a brief glimpse of green overhead. It lasted only a second or two, but we can say we saw them!!
Our guide was really nice and determined to find something to see. Unfortunately, all the action could only be seen through a digital camera. If we had been advised before hand i would have taken one. The images he got on his GoPro were amazing. Pity it was sooo cold and also cold on the bus.
A disappointing tour. A very packed minibus with non functioning seatbelts and very narrow aisles On top of that the driver-guide was extremely rude and couldnt care less. They were not punctual and didnt even apologize A total waste
A great experience, enthusiastic guide. The smaller bus allows you to get further away from the main road and light sources. I would do this again with the same company if i return to Iceland
Unfortunately didn't see the lights and this was no fault of the tour company. But the weather was forecasted for cloud so wasn't expected so would have been nice to have had the option of delaying the tour to another night. We drove out the city and then parked up. As the bus was switched off, we sat in the cold for 2 hours. Bus driver did hand out blankets but could have left the heating on given the cold outside. This unfortunately made it quite an unpleasant experience.
We unfortunately did not get to see the Northern Lights, but our guide really tried to give us the opportunity. In lieu of the lights, we saw stunning views of the stars in the night sky, the Milky Wayc and lots of constellations.
