The Glacier hike portion of the trip was amazing and our guide for the hike was awesome. So warm and positive and had a love of her job and people and made it extra special. The actual tour guide who drove our van was nice but seemed under the weather or hung over. He was quiet and seemed not excited to be driving us that day. He left us waiting over 20 minutes after our hike to open the van and we were left standing out in the cold not knowing where he had gone.
A great tour of the waterfalls and the South Coast. When doing the glacier hike you miss out on seeing the black sand beach and town of Vik, but this seems like a good trade off. The glacier hike was a truly unique and really enjoyable experience. You are given all of the tools you need - pick axe and crampons spiked shoes and the guide takes you up the glacier, where you learn more about the areas glaciers/volcanoes and the changes occurring in the landscape. I don't think you can get an experience like this other places and would definitely make the glacier hike part of your trip to Iceland!
We had a great guide Pablo , the reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because my husband and I could not make it up the glacier. I had asked on Tripadvisor if a 61 and 65 year old could do this and I was told casual walk with a bit of climbing. I call BS on that!!! We were with 25-30 year old young adults and after we reached the base of the glacier and put on the crampons we headed up the glacier. We could not keep up and there were a coupe of steep climbs, I could not get enough air into my lungs and just had to stop. Pablo was very gracious and had a guide come get us and take us down , he was also very kind. I wish we did this 30 years ago! Great people, very concerned for our safety and would highly recommend this if I were younger or in better condition.
This tour was excellent. The guide was friendly and informative. I had one of the best days of my life on this tour.
This tour was amazing!
Amazing time. Go early in the day before the larger tour buses arrive.
This tour was excellent. We saw the highlights of the south coast after we did the glacier walk. The glacier walk was amazing. It was a lot of walking but it was not difficult walking on the ice. If you are looking to do a glacier walk, this tour is perfect.
