Amazing tour with beautiful scenery and very kind, helpful and friendly guides! Definitely a must do if you're in Iceland.
This bus tour was a great way to visit Iceland's Southern Coastline and view several attractive waterfalls. Our 64-seat tour bus was composed of three different groups. After our stop at the Skogafoss waterfall - the ATV and glacier hiking tours separated from our group. We then went on to visit the black-sand beaches and rock formations at Vik. The groups came together at the glacier bus stop. We then stopped to visit the Saljalandsfoss waterfall. The weather was cold but sunny - which made for some great photo opportunities of these attractive and impressive sites. Our guide was also very interesting and informative. An amazing overall experience.
The tour was amazing! We stayed at an Air BnB and they we missed our pickup location. They were overly accommodating and ensured we made our bus. The guide was super knowledgeable. Would definitely book with them again.
Excellent trip. The waterfalls is a mind blowing .The black beach is so beautiful
I've been on several Viator tours and have been very pleased with past excursions. This, however, was a notable exception. The local supplier, Gray Line Iceland, offered a poorly conceived itinerary which resulted in far too much driving and no time to experience the stops. That was coupled with a guide with poor communication skills and an inexperienced bus driver. The times allowed for the stops were ridiculously unrealistic given the popularity of the locations during the tourist season. The most comical of the guide's pre stop instructions was for the glacier stop. She advised, There will be 30 minutes for this stop. If you start towards the glacier tongue and walk very fast, you can get halfway there and back to the bus. Or, you might choose to take a bathroom break or get a drink and see nothing of the glacier. We were told all morning that we would have lunch at one location then enjoy a walk on a beautiful beach. There was on 50 minutes allowed for this stop. There was only one option for getting food and the lines for the food and the restroom ran out of the door of the shop. Needless to say, there was no opportunity to get even see the beach much less take the 10 minute walk over the dunes to get to the beach. The highlight of the day, however, is when the bus driver decided to turn the bus around by driving onto the sand instead of staying on the road and immediately getting stuck in the sand. The tour guide laughed this off saying, this happens all the time. It resulted in a delay of over an hour until a local farmer came with his tractor to pull the bus out of the sand. The message here is, less is more. It would have been much more enjoyable to have fewer stops at which the location could be fully experienced. We knew to expect crowds at these popular destinations we expected to wait in lines. Gray Line, however, didn't seem to take this into account in planning the itinerary so it made for a very long day filled with frustration.
