Rio’s highest peak, Pico da Tijuca (1022m – 3353ft) is located in the middle of the Tijuca Forest, overlooking most of the city. Before the hike, stop by the entrance of the national park to visit a gigantic and beautiful waterfall. The track starts at the idyllic Bom Retiro and lasts no more than one and a half hours. From there, you will have a wonderful view to most of Tijuca Forest’s landmarks as well as the Maracanã and Engenhão stadiums, Guanabara Bay and a lot more!
