The construction on the Gothic Revival style church began in 1884, and was completed in 1925. The church tower was built in 1969.

The street chosen is called Rua do Encanto and the house was nicknamed "A Encantada".
The house has some peculiarities, as one of its last inventions is the shower with hot water, the only one of Brazil at that time, being heated with alcohol, and also the external staircase where you can only start to climb with the right leg, and the internal that can only be raised with the left leg.
The house has three floors, plus an observatory, over the roof.
