Stop At: Galleria Borghese, Piazzale del Museo Borghese 5, 00197 Rome Italy
The Galleria Borghese is the astonishing expression of the roman civilization and grandeur. This tour will let you admire ancient Roman, renaissance, baroque and modern artworks all in one place: the marvelous Galleria!
Admire a 16th century collection of original sculptures and paintings. Cardinal Scipione was a collector of many works of ancient, Renaissance and contemporary art. He acquired ancient sculptures and promoted the creation of new ones, especially marble groups, to rival ancient works. You'll see the statue of Pauline Bonaparte, sculpted by Canova reclined upon a sumptuous couch. You’ll admire Cardinal Scipione's collection of paintings that consists today of hundreds of canvases including Caravaggio's "Boy with a Basket of Fruit" and "David with the Head of Goliath", Raphael's "Deposition", Titian's "Sacred and Profane Love" works, and dozens of statues both by contemporary artists of that century like Bernini and ancient Roman sculptures. This collection is not only a way to learn about Roman art history but is a time-travel through love, art, passion, power, wealth and aristocracy.
The world famous "Apollo and Daphne" by Gianlorenzo Bernini will come alive in front of your eyes, see how this genius was able to capture the moment in which the nymph Daphne was transformed into a laurel tree…
At the end of the tour you have the opportunity to walk in the same beautiful landscaped park just as Cardinal Scipione, only 5 centuries later! Please know that entrance fees are not included.

My wife and I had the truly wonderful experience of being toured around the Borghese Gallery and Museum in Rome by Francesca of the Joy of Rome group. Francesca is a university professor in art history and knows a tremendous amount about the Museum and its artists, including Bernini and Caravaggio. It was a rare opportunity to have Francesca lead us through the Museum and provide an always amusing and deeply insightful running commentary regarding the artists, their works and their patrons and the real life collision of these forces in Renaissance Italy. She had something insightful and often surprising to say about the works and the Museum itself. Francesca is also personally very warm and energetic and super fun to be with. We just finished 8 days in Rome and our tour with Francesca was easily the highlight of our trip. We loved our experience with her and you will too.
Best tour i could ask for!! Recommend everyone use the Joy of Rome for their Borghese experience.
This was the most amazing tour, we were a party of 4, Our guide Francesca was so lovely , and we couldn't have asked for more... her knowledge and delivery made it one of the best afternoons ever spent , the Borghese gallery is a hidden gem in Rome. Thank you so much especially Francesca!!
