Capri Island with Blue Grotto Excursion
Escape to the island of Capri on this day excursion from Rome. The island was known as the mythological home of the Sirens in ancient mythology and also served as a popular island retreat for the Roman Emperors. Start your day with an easy transfer from your Rome hotel to the Naples Port. The journey will take about 3 hours with a 20 min rest stop in between. At the port, your local guide will greet you and the group will board the ferry to Capri. Upon arrival, your guide will take you on a tour of the island and point out the highlights of this beautiful Mediterranean getaway resort. If weather and sea conditions permit, you will visit the famous Blue Grotto. This grotto is accessed by a narrow passageway from the sea and the light that passes into the cave gives it a famous blue glow. This grotto was the personal swimming pool of the Roman Emperors and is a stunning sight to behold. If sea conditions close the entry into the grotto, you will visit the stunning Faraglioni rocks instead. Lunch will be served at a restaurant in the small town of Anacapri. The afternoon will be free for you to explore the island at your leisure. In the late afternoon, you will board the ferry back to the mainland, where your shuttle will meet you for the return trip back to Rome.
