About this activity
Start your day with a pickup from your central Rome hotel or alternatively, start your tour at a meeting point in town, near Rome Termini Station. Hit the road and travel south to Italy’s Campania region, and as you gaze out at the pretty landscape of Castelli Romani look out for Abbey of Montecassino -- a spectacular Benedictine monastery perched atop of a hill.
After a journey of roughly three hours, arrive in the southern Italian region of Campania and head straight to its capital Naples to discover its delights from the comfort of your coach, ( a panoramic view of Naples).
Leave the city, and travel south toward Mount Vesuvius, passing the towns of Ercolano (Herculaneum), Torre del Greco and Torre Annunziata before arriving in the town of Pompeii. Stop for a well-earned lunch in one of the town’s traditional restaurants, and then head out to visit Pompeii’s UNESCO-listed ruins on a 2-hour walking tour. Learn how the ancient city lay buried under Mount Vesuvius’ volcanic ash for centuries and see incredible excavations of old monuments, like Teatro Grande -- a theater that once seated 5,000 people.
After your tour, head back to your coach and then travel north back to Rome. Your tour finishes back at the start point near Termini Station. Alternatively, you can make use of a drop-off at Via Veneto, Piazza Barberini, Piazza Venezia or Piazza della Repubblica; simply let your guide know on the day.

Tour was suppose to be in English but was translated to multiple languages, which made a very slow tour in the heat, insufficient shade in these areas. Not enough free time at the end to explore the amphitheatre, brothel and the house that still had people.
We started at 7:30 am and didn’t get dropped off till 9:30 pm. They put two group together on one bus and had to drop off first group at water , then we went to Restaurant and Pompeii. We stopped and had lunch, food was terrible and service rude. Then went to Pompeii. Guide was old hard to understand plus we had to hear tour in English and Spanish. Then we had to go back to pick up people we dropped off at Marina and they added more people on bus. Bus was packed and air conditioning was not cold. They had to switch bus drivers because time frame was so long. Greenline bus tours was terrible. The only nice thing to say we thought bus drivers drove amazing in the tight streets n hills.
A Great Day tour to Pompeii Definitely a must see! The only thing i would say is that i wish we had more time to explore Pompeii we had a whole day trip from Rome , so we had a couple stops , one being in Naples, but we only had a few hours at the ruins of Pompeii and didn't get to see everything.
The green line tour guide that handled everything except Pompeii was good . Pompeii was an exceptional historic site and was very interesting. The tour guide thru Pompeii was awful. It was suppose to be an English tour but he spoke very poor English and then it was combined with Spanish which is what he used most of the time. not worth the cost it was a self tour so we were over charged
This tour was a great experience. The short tour through Napoli leaves us with the desire for more of it but the Pompei tour compensates all of it. We made several friends in the bus (recommended). Our Pompei guide was Nandio and though old he managed us very well and was fun and entertaining.
