Private Roman Food Tour: The 10 Tastings

This was a fun and informative walking tour. It wasn’t just about the food, a lot of history in the area as well. Our guide was knowledgeable and fun!

No one showed up to conduct this tour. We arrived 30 minutes before the meeting time and waited 40 minutes after the tour was to begin. The local contact number was a recording in Italian with no opportunity to leave a message. No response to my text to the United States number that had sent a reminder text except to say “message received”. So I paid a LOT of money for nothing but aggravation.

We were in Florence for a day and spent the evening with Luca, Max, and Mateo learning how to make gelato and make pizza from scratch. This event was one of the highlights from my entire trip to both Rome and Florence! We saw some amazing views on the way and spent a beautiful evening at the farmhouse learning how to make both gelato and pizza from scratch. I was mostly interested in the dough making process, and learned a lot from Mateo and Luca - esp regarding yeast usage and the kneading process. They kept it very entertaining and informative at the same time. The 5 hours flew by very quickly, not to mention the pizza was delish! The vegetable garden is impressive, and we had many fresh veggies to put on our pizzas. We alternated between our gelato making and pizza making, and ultimately ended up with a very delicious dinner! We made our own pizzas and shared our gelato so we could have a taste of many of the flavors created in class. This was definitely an event to remember, and everyone had a great time! Even my boyfriend who wanted to stay in Florence to watch World Cup had a blast, and he hates cooking! Definitely an event to incorporate into your schedule - 5 hours seems long, but it goes by so quickly, and you don't really want to leave the countryside at the end. The instructors were great, the location and scenery were beautiful, and all the wine and beer accompanying our class was great too!

Gabriel was VERY GOOD! He really knew the city center and knew just where to take us, telling us all about the history of the city as we walked. We even stopped for an espresso, WONDERFUL! My only recommendation would be to offer an either/or choice of cookie type at the bakery and an either/or choice of pizza with/without cheese.

Mauricio was our guide and he was extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable With our questions. We had a fantastic time and enjoyed this Tour. I wished I had done it first day when we arrived though.

What a great tour!!!! Our guide with his local expertise and excellent english made this a trip highlight and then there was the food. From start to finish our well planned tour and knowledgeable guide gave us great insight to the areas we visited and kept us stuffed with excellent treats. Our great finish at a craft beer market was perfect on such a warm sunny day. Thanks Again and we all highly recommend this small group tour!!!
