Rome by Vintage Vespa: Classic Rome Tour
3 h
About this activity
Start with a pickup from your Rome hotel, and hop on the back of your Vespa scooter, behind your private guide. After a short safety briefing, you’ll set off to explore the colorful cobblestone streets of Rome.
Your first stop is Piazza Venezia, home to the Vittoriano monument, the imposing white structure that dominates the cityscape of Rome. Hop off to learn about the landmark and hear recent stories about the struggles of Italians for their freedom.
Head onward to the Imperial Forum to learn about the Roman Empire from its glory days to its decline. As you circle the streets of Ancient Rome, you’ll come face-to-face with the Colosseum. Jump off for a few more photos, and listen to your guide’s commentary to separate the Hollywood stories from the Colosseum’s historical reality.
Continue to tucked-away treasures such as the Baths of Caracalla, and get to know the Ancient Appian Way. Stop to refuel with an espresso or gelato in the food-lovers district of Testaccio, and climb the green boulevard known as Aventine Hill. Admire sweeping panoramas from the orangery, before you look through the secret keyhole of Rome for a unique sight of St. Peter’s Basilica.
As you wind your way back down the hill, check out Circus Maximus and the ruins of Caesar’s Palace in the distance. Once back in town, it’s time to finish up with a drop-off at your Rome hotel.
Please note: It is not possible to drive the Vespa on this tour.

This tour was amazing! Fabrizio and Michele were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. This was an awesome way to see a lot of Rome on such a fun form of transportation. Highly recommend!
Had the best time, Jajacoba was my tour guide and he was excellent. There were a total of 6 females (family) on this tour and we each had our own tour guide. This was the highlight of my trip to Rome, I am going back to Rome and will definitely do this tour again.
We loved our Vespa tour. Our guides were amazing and so well informed on the sites of the city. We were lead by a great group of guys who made the experience so fun. It is a great way to see the city and those places that you might want to return to later. I highly recommend this while in Rome!
This experience was the highlight of our trip to Rome. Out drivers were very professional and you could tell they had a real love for the City. They took us to places that you would not normally see on a trip to Rome. I would highly recommend it. Worth every penny.
This was a wonderful start to our Italian holiday. Zipping around Rome, seeing so many interesting and out of the way places - fantastic. Our drivers were Simone and Riccardo Sp.? and they were simply the best. So much information about places and food/drink and the Italian way of life. We loved this trip - best thing we did in 3 weeks in Italy.
Hands down the funnest part of our trip!! My daughter was mad at me for doing the best thing of our trip on the first day versus saving the best for last. It did turn out to definitely be the highlight of our 11 day trip. Donato and his colleague were fantastic, letting us pick where we wanted to go, offering great suggestions as well, providing history on the sites, driving carefully and skillfully in challenging Rome traffic and dropping us off at our choice. They gave us plenty of time for us to take our pictures and gladly took multiple pictures of the two of us. The closest you'll ever get to feeling like a local and no better way to spend an afternoon in Rome!!!
If there is just one thing you do in Rome......LET THIS BE IT!!!! THE most amazing and coolest family experience. As a family of 5 including a 17,14 and 10 year old I was quite apprehensive on safety and speed, but our fears were set aside almost immediately. These guys were true professionals from start to finish, they've obviously got a great deal of experience, have known each other a very long time and made everything look so easy. They were also very respectful and caring with the children and myself with a bad back, avoiding all the bumps where possible. Valerino was our main guide, a true historian and certainly the coolest one we've met to date! with a passion for passing on his knowledge in an extremely easy manner, he was incredibly interesting and seemed to know everything there was to know about Rome. The 3-hour tour was timed to perfection so you didn't get bored and we learnt so much, in fact we just didn't want it to end. It's worth noting that Valerino also carried around an iPad so he could show us how everything would have looked in its full glory when first built...this was a great visualisation and really added to the tour as you don't always get this type of representation in the main travel guides. I really can't stress enough how good this tour was and I'm surprised it's not fully-booked up several moths in advance, it's that good.Perfect for solo visits, couples or families and I have to say particularly gratifying for my husband and I to watch the children enjoy history, smile big and feel like they were in the movies all at the same time...thank you to Valerino and his fabulous friends for a truly memorable experience....
I booked this tour for my husband's 50th birthday and he absolutely loved it. The extremely knowledgeable guide took us to some fascinating places not generally seen on the tourist trail. Both the guide and his colleague were friendly, helpful and really interesting to meet. Their passion for Rome and their enthusiasm for it's history really helped to make the tour special. We both felt very well looked after and safe at all times. Seeing Rome by vespa is an exciting way to explore this fascinating city and I would thoroughly recommend it.
We loved the Vintage Vespa tour but would tweek it a bit to be sure both tour guides communicated with their passenger about the things we were seeing. My guide talked to me while we travelled, but my husband's did not, so he missed out on hearing about some of the tour.
