Stop At: Galleria Borghese, Piazzale del Museo Borghese 5, 00197 Rome Italy
Cardinal Scipione Borghese commissioned both the Villa Borghese itself and many of the great works still on display in its gallery. Works by Bernini, Caravaggio and Titian remain in their original settings, as envisioned by the Cardinal, a fiercely determined collector.
Strictly controlled entry to the Villa and Gallery can make booking difficult and complicated. This package lets you avoid the organizing and even skip the line to get in when you arrive.
On this fully-guided tour you’ll hear more about Cardinal Borghese’s quest to complete his collection, and the stories behind the artworks themselves, including Bernini’s ‘Apollo and Daphne’, Canova’s ‘Pauline Bonaparte’, Caravaggio’s ‘St. Jerome’ and Raphael’s ‘The Deposition’. Your guide will be an English-speaker and an expert on the collection, and audio headsets ensure you’ll hear every word they say.
Duration: 2 hours
Stop At: Villa Borghese Gardens, Piazzale Napoleone I, 00197 Rome Italy
Included in this tour is a visit to the Borghese Gardens: once the Cardinal’s private park, now a favorite spot for locals to relax among sculptures, plants and water features and get away from it all. From the Pincio Terrace you can appreciate another kind of work of art: the vista of Rome itself, from the Piazza del Popolo into the distance.

The Gallery was fantastic. Our guide was so informative and due to the time allowed she couldn’t have done any better
Lorenzo our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable, passionate and very pleasant. He most certainly knows the arts and explains the works in the museum thoroughly. Most enjoyable tour.
Thanks to Elizabetha, our lovely guide, we had the chance to see and to understand the art collection. Her passion especially for Caravaggio was really contagious and we loved the stories she could tell about the art and the historical background. We can strongly recommend this tour.
Our guide, Kyle ( I hope to be correct), is passionate about history of art and she managed to make us feel that. The tour is a must if you came to Rome. Our guide made not only a presentation but constructed a story aroun baroque style. We learned how to understand baroque art, how to observe details...Bernini and Caravaggio were highlighted, but you could appreciate many other things because the tour includes the Gardens also.
The Museum was great but the garden was a disappointment not what I expected. Was too long for what we saw.
Stunning collection of paintings and sculptures. Beautiful park for walking. Many activities. Food available. Exit to Piazza di Popolo
Our guide was extremely personable and informative. She keep the tour moving at a good pace and answered all of our questions.
A great guide, Lorenzo, led us through our tour. These was no line during our visit, but tickets were sold out at the ticket office, so booking in advance was the right thing to do. The money we paid to have a guide was well worth it, and Lorenzo was terrific. This is a museum not to be missed. The sculptures were breath taking.
The best guide we ever had. Great museum. Fantastic information on The paintings And afterwards a nice walk throughout The surroundings. Great dat
Really excellent tour, with extremely knowledgeable guide who shared her passion for the art of the gallery in a way that was infectious.I learned a huge amount and thoroughly enjoyed both the gallery and park visits.
Just the right amount of time. Guide very knowledgeable. Beautiful collection of art and sculptures.
We settled on the tour because it was the only way to get tickets for the day we wanted to see the Borghese -- otherwise, we would have just gotten the tickets directly. I'm glad it worked out this way because going through the galleria with the guide really enhanced the experience and made sure we understood the history of the Bernini/Borghese patronage. Our guide Anna was friendly, knowledgeable and incredibly composed she was harassed multiple times by a member of the staff but kept her cool and stayed professional and engaged with us the whole time. After the tour, she led us on a walk through the grounds and then up to a wonderful lookout at the Pincio Terrace which was also a perfect departure point for everyone from the group to their various directions.
For being a lattice crowd in front it was a little more disorganised than our Vatican tour was. This is my second two of The Galleria Borghese for much shorter than my last one. Being only 2 hours lying you only get to see the masterpieces. If you want to see the other pieces in more detail you will need to schedule a longer tour. For us is to our two hour tour was just fine as we had just done a 4 hour tour of the Vatican. The guide was knowledgeable in Nice. If you just want an overview and to see the masterpieces this tour is a good one.
The borghese gallery and gardens are a must see if you like art, architecture, and stunning buildings and grounds.
Angela was fabulous and gave us great insight to all the history and artists. She is extremely knowledgeable and helpful in regards to other tours.
