Itinerary

Stop At: Canal Grande, 30100 Venice Italy

Upon arrival at the Venice train station, your coordinator will take you to the water for a panoramic cruise, for our transfer from the train station to Rialto, on board of a private water taxi. It’s through its waterways that the beauty of Venice really shines.

The canals are much better suited to the water taxis we use than the gondolas, and our boat allows us to move quickly and easily, without losing the intimacy of a smaller vessel. At Rialto you will meet your expert local guide, who will unveil the Floating City’s most sought after sights, enjoying Skip-the-Line Access to spectacular St. Mark’s Basilica, as well as Special Access to the Basilica’s terraces.

Duration: 15 minutes

Stop At: Casa di Marco Polo, Calle Scaleta, 30121 Venice Italy

You’ll start your discovery of Venice with a guided tour on foot: as you weave your way around the twisting back streets, cobbled courtyards and small arched bridges, your expert guide will regale you with tales from Venice’s colorful past. You’ll discover why the city was built on a lagoon, how it came to be an important center of trade and what events conspired to end its domination over much of the Mediterranean.

You’ll walk by Marco Polo’s house and hear about how the Venetian merchant set off to sea one day and returned with tales of faraway eastern lands that in those days, few had ever seen.

Duration: 15 minutes

Stop At: Campo Santi Giovanni e Paolo, Campo Santissimi Giovanni e Paolo, Campo Giovanni e Paolo Santissimi, 30122 Venice Italy

You’ll stroll across the church and palace-lined piazzas of Campo SS Giovanni e Paolo and Campo Santa Maria Formosa, where Byzantine, Renaissance and modern elements fuse together their timeless portraits of the city, and also glimpse the fabled Bridge of Sighs.

Duration: 15 minutes

Pass By: Ponte dei Sospiri, Piazza San Marco, 1, 31024 Venice Italy

glimpse the fabled Bridge of Sighs.

Stop At: Basilica di San Marco, San Marco 328, 30124 Venice Italy

Breeze past the entry lines and head straight into St. Mark’s Basilica with your local expert guide, where you’ll uncover the diverse treasures inside, including the dazzling golden mosaics adorning its domed interior and ceilings. Having saved ourselves precious time with our privileged access, we’ll also manage to squeeze in a climb up to the famous terraces. Rarely included on guided tours, they offer beautiful views over St. Mark’s Square, which Napoleon fondly coined the “the finest drawing room in Europe” and the Venetian rooftops beyond.

After that, you will have about 3 hours to enjoy Venice independently. Your guide will offer local advice on the best restaurants you can try for lunch, or you may want to sample the famous cicchetti: similar to tapas these are best enjoyed with a glass of Prosecco.

After your free time, you will be free to either take a vaporetto to come back to the train station (tickets are included) , or just walk . Then, we board our speed train for our return to Rome.

This was a tough one for us to rate. We went into this tour with the mindset that this was the only practical way we were going to see Venice on a day trip from our Rome based vacation. You need to realize that you will be spending 8 hours of the day on a train I've seen a lot of people say it was 3 or 31/2 but the ride took us a solid 4 hours each way as we had about 5 or 6 stops along the route but we knew this going in and did not rate the tour low because of that. We got to meeting point which was stated as the park across the Train Terminal at 6:15, it was dark and raining and there was no one in sight. As it approached 6:30 we began to get nervous and called the emergency number only to get a recording that they were not open so no help there. We started to wonder around and thankfully stumbled upon the guide whom was at the train station already, not waiting for us in the park. We made the assumption that we would be guided throughout the whole experience so we were shocked when we were handed a train ticket and told which car to climb aboard where we were by ourselves the next 4 hours. Once in Venice, we were met by a lady whom took us via water taxi to the Rialto Bridge to meet our guide. This guide was a local Venetian and although I think she was trying to give us an experience from the perspective of a local Venetian it came across like she didn't like tourists very much and we encountered a few uncomfortable moments when she made comments criticizing other tourist loud enough for them to hear. This tour only last two hours and ended at St. Mark's where we did get to go to the terraces which was awesome and you do get a view of inside the church from above but were told that going into St Mark's itself on the ground floor was not included. You had the option of waiting on another line if you wanted to go it was free though. Shortly after 1PM, you are left on your own for the rest of the afternoon to do what you want and that is the last person of this tour that you are going to see. It is up to you to get your way back on the water taxi and on the correct train. This was a hard review because aside from the few issues, we really had a great time in Venice and glad we went but was left disappointed because I have no idea where in the world this tour company gets off charging these prices for a train ticket, water taxi ticket and a 2 hour guided tour?!?!?!?
