It's a great way to explore the city and a convenient trip to the Redwoods if you don't have cars/bikes. Personally, I don't think it matters whether to book this one in advance or not. It is a flexible thing, you can decide on the spot. This bus only runs every 2 hours, only 4 bus rides during the day. So if you decides to hop off at one point, the next pick up time is 2 hrs later.
