Itinerary
Day 1: Cusco – Wayllabamba
Stop At: Inca Trail, Machu Picchu Peru
Distance: 12 Kilometers / 7.5 Miles
We will depart in Cusco early in themorning, by private transport, and drive through the Sacred Valley to Piscacucho Community (Railroad km82-2700m/8856ft), where we begin the Inca Trail. Following a trail along the left-hand shore of the Urubamba River (or Sacred river), we enjoy stunning views of the snow-capped Mount Veronica (5690 m.) and the Inca archeological remains denominated Llaqtapata. Continuing through lush farmland and woodlands, we gradually climb for approximately 5 hours to our first campsite at Wayllabamba.

Day 2: Wayllabamba - Pacaymayo
Stop At: Inca Trail, Machu Picchu Peru
Distance: 11 Kilometers / 6.88 Miles
After breakfast and an early start, we begin steep climb through Andean cloud forest and highland puna to the highest point on our trek, Warmiwañusca or Dead Woman’s Pass (4250m/13943 ft). During our ascent, we can appreciate he wide variety of plant, flower, and bird species supported by this unique eco-climate. Once we reach the pass, our challenge is rewarded by astonishing panoramic view of the Vilcanota and Vilcabamba mountain ranges. From here, we descend into the Pacaymayo river valley until we arrive our second campsite.

Day 3: Pacaymayo – Phuyupatamarca or Wiñay Wayna (depending on the availability provided by the Ministry of Culture)
Stop At: Inca Trail, Machu Picchu Peru
Distance: 16 Kilometers / 10 Miles
On this day we follow ancient paths and steps to the well-preserved Inca remains of Runkuraqay, Sayaqmarca and Phuyupatamarca. Along our visit to the sites we can appreciate the Incas´ complex architectural style and reverence of natural geography and beauty. Heading down the sub-tropical Andean slope we reach another strategic and aesthetically-situated situated site at Wiñay Wayna, where we camp for the night.(dependent on the availability provided by the Ministry of Culture)

Day 4: Phuyupatamarca/Wiñay Wayna – Machu Picchu - Cusco
Stop At: Inca Trail, Machu Picchu Peru
Distance: 4 Kilometers / 2.5 Miles
Leaving Wiñay Wayna, we descend gradually further through the highland jungle to our destination: Inti Punku, or the Sun Gate to Machu Picchu.

Stop At: Santuario Historico de Machu Picchu, Machu Picchu Peru
Arriving at daybreak, we catch our first breathtaking view of this historical wonder. We have the rest of the day (2 1/2 hours) with a specialized tour guide to learn about the history of the archeological site of Machu Picchu and its enigmatic buildings before taking the train back from Aguas Calientes town to Cusco in the afternoon.
