Upon connecting with your guide right in the seaport terminal after passport control, your excursion begins with city-tour in the heart of St. Petersburg. Visit Nevsky Prospekt, the city's most famous street to mix with locals. Upon passing the enormous Palace Square, you'll see St. Isaac's-the largest cathedral in Russia-standing 141 feet tall. Next on your St. Petersburg tour is the famed Peter and Paul Fortress and Cathedral. Erected in 1703, it was the keystone building in the Tsar's Great Northern war against the Swedes. This grand 18th-century ecclesiastical structure served as the city's central place of worship, defense, and burial (serving as the burial place for Romanov nobility).
The iconic bronze horseman depicting Peter the Great, the Menshikov Palace housing the distinguished Hermitage Museum, and other notable monuments constitute this spot a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Next, you'll visit the stunning romantic-style Spilled Blood church, and get a grand tour of this symbolic landmark. Erected in 1883, following the assassination of Emperor Alexander III (on its location), the church was completed in 1907.
The second day of your adventure is dedicated to the emperor's summer residence. You will have ample time to visit the city of fountains, the Peterhof, dubbed the Russian Versailles. Reminiscent of France's Versailles, and rivalling it with its splendor, you are given access to its detailed grounds. Having served as the Tsar's summer residence, its grounds are dotted with countless fountains (like the spraying Joke Fountain), monumental ensembles, and charming pavilions. Get back to the city on hydrofoil - the fastest and most efficient transportation between Peterhoff and St. Petersburg, which allows you to admire excellent views.

We came away feeling we missed seeing the wonders of St Petersburg as most of the sites were seen from the coach and we missed not being able to wander around ourselves to get a feel for the place and the people, as we would normally do. In summary: too much time spent in the park (Peterhof), too much time spent on the coach and precious time wasted on hydrofoil and definitely too much time spent in 2 touristy shops. Guides very good, but first day she was difficult to understand. We feel we gained very little for 300 euros.
I would highly recommend this tour for people who cannot or do not have the desire to do 2 full days in Russia. We saw a lot and our guide Valentina was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. It was a small group of 11 which was perfect. Our driver was amazing and did very well with very heavy traffic. The tour is stated as 4 hours but the first day was 6 hrs and the second day was 5 hrs. It was very relaxed and had plenty of time to enjoy the sites. Well worth the money!
