Meet a guide at your hotel or ship for 10am departure (12pm on Thursdays), then hail a cab for the trip to the first stop of the day, the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood (transport can be arranged at an additional expense). Built on the site where the Emperor Alexander II was assassinated in 1881, the enormous church houses more than 80,000 square feet (7,432 sq. mt.) of mosaics, now restored after years of neglect. Take in the details of the elaborate facade and onion domes, and see the shrine that marks the site of the Emperor's assassination.

The tour guide was super friendly and very knowledgeable. I don't think you need a tour guide for these locations. In the State Russian Museum there are several employees sitting in the rooms to answer questions and with English audio. While the Museum had beautiful and historic peaces I wouldn't say it's a must see. The Hermitage is beautiful and I would suggest this instead. The food was delicious, but the tour guide didn't stay and thus going to lunch after would be sufficient. The tour guide was amazing and my review does not reflect otherwise, but the tour itself was expensive and cheaper options available and skipping the Museum and going to Hermitage is my opinion.
