Tsarskoye Selo palace and park ensemble — a brilliant monument of world architecture and landscape art XVIII — early XX century. A whole group of architects, sculptors, painters embodied the desires of their royal customers. In Tsarskoe Selo concentrated best samples baroque and classical architecture; it is here were first in the Russian capital interiors, decorated in Art Nouveau style.
The Catherine Palace, located in the town of Tsarskoye Selo (Pushkin), 25 km south-east of St. Petersburg was the summer residence of the Russian tsars. The palace is a part of a marvelous ensemble of palaces and parks. It was almost totally destroyed during The Second World War. Now the palace is impressive post WWII reconstruction. The Catherine palace nowadays contains exclusive decorative objects, furniture, Russian and West-European paintings, unique collection of porcelain, amber, weapons, decorative bronze, sculptures, etc.

Pavlovsk is a municipal town in Pushkinsky District of the federal city of St. Petersburg, located 30 kilometers (19 mi) south from St. Petersburg proper and about 4 kilometers (2.5 mi) southeast from Pushkin.

The town developed around the Pavlovsk Palace, a major residence of the Russian imperial family. Between 1918 and 1944, its official name was Slutsk, after the revolutionary Vera Slutskaya, and then was changed back to Pavlovsk. Pavlovsk is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Saint Petersburg and Related Groups of Monuments.Pavlovsk Palace. Visiting the workshops of famous masters, they bought and ordered paintings, sculpture, furniture, bronze products, silk fabrics, porcelain sets. The royal people presented them with various gifts that went into the decoration of the halls of the palace. The museum is famous for its unique collections of fine and decorative art. A special place is occupied by a collection of ancient art: Roman marble sculpture, bronze plastics and glass (1st century AD — 3rd century AD).
