Kennecott Copper Mine and Great Salt Lake Tour from Salt Lake City

About this activity
After pickup from your downtown Salt Lake City hotel in the afternoon, you’ll be taken to the Kennecott Copper Mine, the largest and richest copper mine in the world and one of the few man-made creations visible from space.
Travel high into the Oquirrh Mountains to see the world's largest waste-rock repositories and earth-moving trucks. At an overlook to the Kennecott Copper you’ll learn about the mine’s 100-year history. It was once a small company, but is now a premier copper supplier and the largest private economic driver in Utah.
After your time here, head to the Great Salt Lake, a unique lake known as America’s Dead Sea. Your guide will explain how this lake is the remnant of Lake Bonneville, a great Ice Age lake that rose dramatically from a small saline lake 30,000 years ago.
You'll discover how this amazing lake came to be the largest saltwater lake in the Western Hemisphere. Visit the Saltair Resort on the lake’s southern shore and discover the surrounding bird habitats, containing more than 250 species of birds.
After your tour of these Utah gems, you’ll be taken back to your downtown hotel.
