The circuit continues until you arrive in San Antonio de los Cobres, near lunch time. Here we will have free time for lunch
Duration: 1 hour
Stop At: Salinas Grandes, 4600 Argentina
After lunch, we will continue our tour of National Route No. 40 or No. 38 (This section of the route is done on unpaved roads that are in very bad conditions. It takes about 2 hours to make this 90km stretch) crossing the provincial limit between SALTA and JUJUY, until you reach the majestic "SALINAS GRANDES". Here we will visit the salt flat and passengers will have access to the "Piletones" from which the salt is extracted, which will then be processed for human consumption.

Having visited the "BIG SALINAS" we will do 25km along Route No. 52, descending about 2000 ms. by the "Cuesta del Lipan" whose highest point is at 4170 m.a.s.l. to get to the beautiful town of PURMAMARCA

Overall a thoroughly enjoyable day. The bus had big windows, so that you could admire the beautiful views of the mountains from any seat. Guide was friendly with a good level of English. However, would've liked some more time at Pumamarca because it was a beautiful little village but we barely had enough time to walk around the market. Also we arrived to see the 7 colour hill as the sun was setting and we couldn't see any of the colours due to the back lighting. This moment was a little disappointing and wish we'd seen it during the morning, when it is seen at it's best.
A really fantastic way to get an insight of the amazing landscape that Argentina has to offer. The tour guide was very enjoyable at all, whether the explanation about points of interests or his knowledge about general things about the locals. He was very good to understand ether way very good english and clear for tourists in spanish. The bus driver did a very good job as well during the long 12+ hours day. The only con has been the circumstance that’s more a sightseeing only tour, with very short stays at each places that we loved to explore even longer (San Antonio de Cobre was only a drive through with a stopover to have lunch, no exploring by foot. The other thing in Salinas Grandes, consider if you need to make use of the toilets and waste your time being in the queue or have time to make remarkable footage out in the salt field ;-) Would definitely recommend to take that tour!
A long day in a minivan with enough stops and a lunch on the way to finally arrive at the Salinas Grandes. A lot of beautiful and different landscapes to be seen along the way. Our guide was professional and enthusiastic and told us a lot. Overall an interesting experience!
A fabulous tour! Note that is starts early in the morning to pick-up all the people and ends around 9PM depends on traffic and weather conditions. We took a perfect amount of stops to take pictures and take-in all the beautiful scenery. In addition, the rest stops for food and bathrooms were good as well. Javiar and our driver were wonderful! Really engaging and helpful the entire day! I highly recommend this tour to see lots of places in one day!
To short stops it went sometimes very stressful but the scenerice are fantastic. The guide was very keen about the railway Tren a las Nubes it is a spectacular train but that was not the purpose of the trip. The complete experience was good. I would highly recommend to go for the trip.
Great guide - engaged, loved her job, personality, unique experiences - had llama for lunch, and amazing landscapes - multi-colored fields
Got to see so much in one day. Awesome tour guides funny, friendly, knowledgable. Wish we got a better view of the hill of 7 colors. The location we stopped wasn't ideal.
We had a wonderful trip. The guide was great, although the van was old, in poor condition with poor ventilation, and part of the air-con unit actually broke while we were traveling - almost falling on a passengers head. It could've been a disaster. We only stopped at a cafe and over priced souvenir shop in Purmamaca - it wasn't until the end when I realised we were meant to look around the town. This happened possibly because we stopped to help a tourist change a tyre in the middle of nowhere and were tight for time. The landscape is outstanding, and the guides knowledge was terrific, but be prepared for 12 hours in the van.
