I learned how to ride a segway and got to see Balboa Park. Had the guide, James, been even slightly happy to be there it could have been a lot of fun. Poor guy has absolutely no customer service skills, rude, sarcastic and complaining about having to hurry back for his next tour. Do not make any jokes while your with him or he gets upset. There are a lot of Segway tours in the area and I recommend ANY other one.
I would encourage Viator/TripAdvisor to read the YELP REVIEWS on the tour guide, James, who is also the owner and founder of this company. I have never, in all my years of traveling, come in contact with someone so rude and condescending to paying tourists/customers. From the start, James was arrogant and harsh with my 67 year old mother--when she was trying to find a helmet that fit without any help from our guide, he kept using industry lingo like dial back--which meant nothing to novice like us. At one point when we politely asked for his assistance he shot back at my elderly mother, You haven't listed to any instructions I've given you since you got here. I approached him then and told him I would not tolerate him speaking to my mother in this tone. He then proceeded to speed talk through operation directions on how to use the Segways--even though our entire family--aged 15 through 67 had never ridden them. We thought we were taking a tour through Balboa Park, but first we had to trek through downtown San Diego. This caused my mother to crash and fall TWICE. The second time, she smashed her face into the ground and cut her lip and nose, bruised her elbow and skinned it and hurt her wrist. James didn't even bother to ask if my mother was okay, but instead showed that he was frustrated and aggravated. I cannot begin to describe how horrible this experience with James was. I was shocked to come home and read on the computer that James is the owner and founder of the company. I was also shocked to read so many negative reviews regarding him specifically, his unsafe practices and his negative attitude towards customers. James ruined our day and his unprofessionalism and negligence caused my 67 year old mother to be injured. I would give serious caution to any other travelers considering this tour. It is unsafe and the owner/tour guide clearly hates his job and the tourists he comes in contact with. James tried to tell bad, offensive jokes all day. The biggest joke of all is the name of his company--We Love Tourists. Insane and ironic. WORST TRIP EVER. BUYER BEWARE.
Great way to see Balboa Park in a short period of time Not Ever used a Segway - was glad we started early On a Saturday since there was not as many people around downtown or the Park, and made navigating A lot less stressful Weather was nice and not to hot Great tour would recommend for anyone
Our tour guide Todd was so much fun and informative. The segway tour of Balboa Park was so much fun for everyone. The seaways were easier to ride than I thought and Todd was excellent at teaching us how to ride. Will definitely segway again!
It was worth doing and our guide was very informative. It could have been better if everyone had felt more comfortable with the speed set by the guide, but not his fault.
This tour was amazing!
