Once you take the ferry over to Alcatraz Island and you are dropped off, you will make your way up to the main prison building, where you receive an audio headset, and the audio tour will guide you through the Alcatraz Prison. Once the audio tour is over, you can continue taking pictures and exploring the Island, or you can walk back down to the ferry landing and hop on the next ferry headed back to San Francisco. This tour was easy to purchase and easy to use. The Alcatraz bike shop hosted the tours and were helpful with booking and trip details. We were were asked to switch our date of our Alcatraz visit to which we could accommodate and they added in a bus tour for free. The hosts at the bike shop clearly explained everything and were so nice and easy to communicate with. Highly recommend using this service.
