What an Escape . The audio commentary at the prison helped to bring to life the feeling of despair that the prisoner must have felt with San Francisco so close but so far away. It also highlighted the people who had to live there. A very interesting insight to the rock.
great trip to Alcatraz and the boat ride was great.....did the twilight cruise also which was great food was excellent....couldn't fault at all from start to finish
This is a must if visiting! Sunset dinner cruise was the best thing we done the whole holiday! Best way to see the islands alcatraz and golden gate bridge
The sunset tour was fantastic. We also enjoyed our afternoon at Alcatraz. Our only complaint would be the line for the bar on the sunset cruise. Theres was only one bartender and we spent a lot of time in line rather than enjoying the view. Marcus provided great entertainment and commentary.
We had a great tour at Alcatraz and the twilight cruise was wonderful with an extra bonus of San Fran fog. Highly recommended!
Tour of Alcatraz followed by twilight cruise from bridge to bridge was a great combination. The timing was just right - 12 o’clock launch left us enough time to enjoy Alcatraz, visit Pier 39, and then go to the cruise. Highly recommend this combo.
Loved the Alcatraz tour, really interesting. The sail element was just average, food was average, singer was good. The route around the bay in the evening would have been much better if they reversed it, by this I mean sailing under the Golden Gate bridge would have been awesome at the beginning of the sail along with views of Sausalito, Tiburon and Angel Island, instead we sailed under the bridge when it was dark and photos were not great. But we felt the price was really good for everything that was included ...
This turned out to be a pretty great trip. The cruise to Alcatraz, was pretty standard, as the cruise was handled by the official Alcatraz cruise ship. Once on the island, you were free to explore as you wanted. What made this trip really cool was the sunset cruise. It took you past all the bay islands, past SF, into Sausilito harbor right when the sun set, which is gorgeous. Then it hit the Golden gate bridge at nightfall, so you can see it at night. But it was more than just a sightseeing cruise. Everyone received a complimentary drink (wine, beer, soft drink ) and they then included a food buffet, with good food and desserts. Plus, they had live music, with a talented Aussie named Marcus. The crew was very friendly. The cruise line was Red and White. Highly recommended.
The Alcatraz tour was nice. There’s not really much to see there, but it is an interesting place to visit. The audio tour was really nice and provided us a lot of information. Since than it is so cold and windy in SF it would be nice if we had the possibility to buy something hot to drink whilst we were waiting (and freezing) for the boat for 30-45 minutes. The twilight bay cruise is completely worthless. Skip it! The food was just a joke. Not enough and not tasty at all. They let us freezing outside the boat for over 40 minutes even though everything was ready on board to receive us. Totally waste of money.
