San Francisco Seaplane Flight and Alcatraz Tour

About this activity
Seaplane tour (morning):
Your 30-minute seaplane flight departs from Sausalito, the postcard-perfect village across the bay from San Francisco. You'll take the provided shuttle from Pier 39. Choose from two morning flight times, depending on the date you select upon booking, leaving you time for the Alcatraz portion of your day.
When you arrive, meet your experienced, friendly pilot and hop inside your 6-passenger seaplane, which provides large windows and high wings so you can enjoy great views and photo ops. Take off, soaring out to the Marin Headlands and the Pacific Coast and then back across the Golden Gate Bridge.
Fly over the San Francisco Financial District, along the Embarcadero, past Fisherman’s Wharf and Pier 39, and over to Alcatraz. Zoom across Angel Island and past the waterfront towns of Tiburon and Belvedere before splashing down to Sausalito for an exciting water landing.
Spend time shopping or eating in Sausalito, if you wish, before heading back to San Francisco by shuttle.
Alcatraz tour (afternoon):
Ferries to Alcatraz Island depart from Pier 33, which is a short walk along the Embarcadero from Pier 39 and Fisherman’s Wharf. Step aboard the ferry and enjoy the ride across San Francisco Bay, soaking up the panoramic views of the Golden Gate Bridge and city skyline along the way.
The Alcatraz walking tour is independent and audio-guided, so when you arrive, just pick up your headset and begin your on-foot exploration of the historic prison. Cellhouse — the Alcatraz award-winning audio tour — provides fascinating narration about life inside the world’s most notorious penitentiary, including stories from former inmates themselves.
Enter a real cell, see where prisoners ate and spent their time, and learn about the legendary criminals who ended up there such as Al Capone, George ‘Machine Gun’ Kelly and Robert Franklin Stroud.
When you’re ready, leave the island at your leisure; ferries depart every 30 to 40 minutes to return you to Pier 33.

We enjoyed the trip very much and it was worth the money for sure. The pilot was very friendly and provide both interesting information on San Francisco' s history as well as great views over variety of parts of the town including Alcatraz. Just take into consideration, that the fog over the Golden Gate is very frequent, depends on the part of the day and also part of the year I suppose. The Alcatraz visit is a "must", the audio guide is very impressive and you will enjoy the building and its history a lot.
This is a must!!! Pilot was great. Only way to see San Francisco Golden gate the red woods San Quentin hands down the best
This tour was amazing!
A complete 30' tour on the seaplane over San Francisco, all the gates, Alcatraz,... A landing on water extremly smooth... Alcatraz is a interesting visit, with a exceptionnal audio description.
We only booked the tour so that we could get Alcatraz tickets.. But it ended up being the highlight of the trip to San Fran! The tour of San Fran from the plane was great, but I think we loved the novelty of being in a seaplane more!! Definitely would recommend it.
Excellent tour. Alcatraz is a must see when you go to San Francisco. The flight was not done on the scheduled day. It was foggy and we wanted to postpone it. Very nice people, accommodating our requests. We were given a second chance, two days later, when it was fog again, then, on the third attempt the weather was fine. Special thanks to the pilot, who tried and succeeded to put the plane in the best spots to allow us taking great pictures. I was offered the co-pilot's seat, which, indeed, I accepted with no hesitation.
Fantastic views, local, informative and personable pilot made the experience incredibly rewarding. We gained views of the Bay, both bridges, Alcatraz and the city that we could not have otherwise appreciated. This was perhaps the most exciting piece of our visit to the San Francisco area. Would highly recommend all visitors book this tour...great value.
Everyone I dealt with for this experience were great, starting with the shuttle pickup through the actual flight. Our pilot was great, and did everything he could to make sure we got the best possible views. Would highly recommend the experience.
