El Pilar Mayan Ruins Horseback Ride

If you have already visited Xunantunich and are looking for a unique Mayan ruin in San Ignacio, El Pilar may be right up your alley. A 45-minute car ride away from downtown San Ignacio, El Pilar is located just outside of Bullet Tree village. While El Pilar is not very well excavated, it makes for a wonderful exploration area for those looking to unlock their inner Indiana Jones. Also, since El Pilar merges more with natural vegetation, there are more opportunities to spot native plants, birds, and other wildlife in this area.
