Our guide, Leo picked us up promptly and was very knowledgeable of the city and surrounding area. I scheduled the tour in English and he asked if he could do it in Spanish since the entire tour was bilingual. It was fine and he was more comfortable. Leo took us to Irazu and even though it was mostly clouded over it was a beautiful site. On the way he gave us some history of Costa Rica and a city tour. He also stopped at some local places for food and coffee which was a bonus. On the return trip he took us through the city and allowed us some time to visit the downtown square and cathedral. After the tour was completed he dropped us at the Children's museum downtown and gave us instructions on how to return to the hotel. A nice bonus. All in all, the tour was highly recommended by us. Comfortable and informative. Just be sure to bring warm clothes as the weather at the top of Irazu is very cold! Pura Vida!
The trip was ok. Nothing worth while.
Awesome views of the Irazu volcano and we had a good view of the lagoon too. The climb had excellent views of the farms potato, onion and carrots and the guide made sure we reached on time to avoid the peak hour rush. Good and bright day made it even more better. We did stop at a view point on the way down to Cartago. The trip was worth the time. The driver was kind enough to drop us at center city in San Jose instead of our hotel.
Be aware that the volcano no longer has any water in it and does not look like the pictures. This trip was only worth it to see the different cloud forest environment and some nice views. Tour guide gave a good commentary and was personable. Wouldn't do it again but good as a day filler.
The guide had a wide knowledge, and very wise person my compliments to him, always willing to help.I would love to do it again with same person.
