This was a great day for Poas. Beautiful clear day. The service was very good and the park personal were extremely helpful. The attendance was not great so we had easy in and out.
My apologies if I am a broken record of other reviews. The ride out is an adventure in itself. Just the view and scenery is amazing. I booked through V as they have always been spot on. The Park website is $5 cheaper/ticket. But I went w “Old Faithful” (almost a pun). We pulled up. Gave the gate a reservation number and off we went. $4 parking. Other cars were rerouted w/o reservations. I thought it ?? To have to list our passport #’s but it is legit. We pulled up, parked, walked up to the building and was handed a colored helmet (which tells how long U have been up there). Given a brief safety/guidelines and told only 20 mins up there which is plenty of time. I liked that it is a park and not a tourist trap. All about the volcano. Not trying to sell u stuff. We wore shorts but very windy and cool. Keep a jacket or scarf handy. U will peal it off as u drive down the mountain. Definitely get a cup of coffee, strawberries, blackberries, peaches and plums. So yum! The volcano was active the day prior. I would have given her 5*s if so. I should give 5 as it is beautiful! We booked at 9 and could see clouds looming in from the trade winds off the Caribbean side. Traffic was considerably heavier as we headed back. Good bathroom facility there. You do have to walk about 400 M w a slight uphill grade. We were a family of 5 w 2 in college and 1 middle school. They all loved it. Oh and funny or maybe not as an ambulance follows up in case any issues. I could smell some sulpher but the winds were really high so it was faint. Very well run!
