Altamira and Santillana del Mar day-trip from Santander
You will depart from Santander towards Altamira Museum, which houses the scale replica of the "room of paintings", the so-called Neocave. This cave was declared World Heritage by Unesco since 1985. To protect its preservation, it currently allows only five people to visit it per week and this is the reason they created this replica from the cave. This cave is a natural cavity in the rock, with painings dated from 40,000 years ago and it stands as one of the most important pictorial and artistic cycles of prehistoric paintings int he world.
Then you will next visit Santillana del Mar, a beautiful medieval village of cobbled streets and one of the best-known cultural and tourist centers of Cantabria. You will go through its narrow streets until you reaching its Plaza Mayor and Collegiata Church of Santa Julina. You will have free time to visit it or any of its interesting museums until the return time.
