About this activity
The tour starts in the morning or afternoon from your hotel or address in an air-conditioned van. Begin by visiting the installations of the Club Hípico de Santiago (Equestrian Club) which is a replica of one of the most beautiful equestrian clubs of France. After, continue on to the old and wealthy neighborhood of the city, dazzling with its architecture. You may find a few surprises within the current occupants of the buildings. Continue toward the center of the city, which includes the parade ground, the Santa Lucía Hill and cathedral, the Government palace La Moneda and the Post Office Building.
Wind up to the high part of the city starting with the Fine Arts Museum of Santiago. Visit to Mapocho River that divides the city, and arrive at the barrio of Bellavista, the very popular Bohemian quarter. This place offers-up many attractions, including hip new restaurants and bars, boutiques, avant-garde galleries, colorful antique homes and mansions. Walk in the footsteps of the famous literary, Pablo Neruda.
There is an option of replacing The Santa Lucia Hill with San Cristobal Hill, the second highest in Santiago, according to your choice.
Lastly, stop in for a visit to a traditional craft shop. The tour will finish in the Central Market (Mercado Central), where you may enjoy a typical lunch, or at your hotel, or a central point of the city if you so choose.

Walking around closed parts of the city to look at building facades from a distance sadly isn’t my idea of a ‘tour’ but perhaps it’s my fault for not reading the small print properly. Had a genuinely lovely guide but v expensive for very little substance.
I was disappointed that we did not get to go to the top of San Cristobal. Had we known in advance, we would have tried to arrange with the driver to drop us off at the bottom of the aerial tram, and pick us up at the bottom of the finicular sp? The other couple in the van wanted to do that, also. The traditional Chilean craft shop turned out to be an expensive jewelry store. The driver was nice and knowledgable.
The 4 hour tour of Santiago with English speaking guide Diego was exceptional. It was a private vehicle and just my wife and I with our guide. Would highly recommend his services to any one.
Air conditioning in vehicle NOT working. Tour guide's English was NOT acceptable. Saw a lot but because of his lack of English, many things were unclear and not understood. We did get to a lot of places which was nice - BUT - would have been better if we knew where we were and what the significance was. Driver did well in traffic, however, he did take several phone calls while driving and did text too. Driver was to pick us up at 3:00pm - I called at 3:10 and Viator said vehicle broke down and they needed to send another vehicle for a small group tour instead of our private tour. Driver arrived at 3:30 and did do the entire 4 hours. Viator also credited us for difference between private and small group tour - thank you !!!!! I would do this tour in another city IF I could be promised a person with GOOD English vocabulary.
