About this activity
Two fabulous tours showing different sides of Chile await you: the city highlights of Santiago and Concha y Toro winery.
SANTIAGO CLASSIC CITY TOUR:
Our tour starts giong down to the cobblestone neighborhood of Lastarría, a characteristic sector for its green areas and beautiful houses of the XIX century, now restored and mostly used as cafes, restaurants, bookstores and museums.
Then, we will go to Cerro Santa Lucia here we will have time to walk and take pictures, while our guide tells us some of the most important episodes in the history of Santiago, such as the Mapuche / Spanish confrontation. From its terraces we will have a panoramic view of Santiago, as well as admire relics and constructions from the colonial era, such as Castillo Hidalgo.
We will go to our next stop, on the way we can see emblematic places of the city such as the Plaza de Armas, The Santiago Cathedral and its impressive architecture, in addition to the former national congress. We will arrive at the imposing government house called “La Moneda” and next to it the “Plaza de la Constitución”; We will visit its surroundings and we will know more about its important and interesting history.
Once in our vehicle, the tour will continue with a step through the Central Market, one of the most characteristic gastronomic points of Santiago, and then continue to the upper sector of the capital. On the way we will stop at a lapis lazuli store where we can admire and/or buy beautiful jewelry and unique crafts. Then we will finish the tour at the respectives hotel or drop off options.
CONCHA & TORO WINERY:
Cross into the Pirque Vineyards to learn about the growth and development of vines assisted by the meticulous attention of master vineyard keepers. Centuries old history is all around as you explore the ancient Pirque Terraces. Old world taste comes to life with sampling of Casillero del Diablo Carmenere. The wines created from this classic Chilean variety were confused with Merlot for more than a century before rediscovery in the 1990s. Today Carmenere is Chile’s emblematic wine.
Then descend underground into the winery’s intriguing system of ancient cellars. Visit “Casillero del Diablo” (Devil’s Cellar), the source of the famous legend that made Chilean wine known around the world. End your tour at the wine bar for a wine tasting, an ideal place to taste premium wines paired with lavish appetizers and cheeses. If you select the wine-only option, sample two wines from the flagship Casillero del Diablo label. Or, add for a small additional price the wine & cheese pairing option, which includes four wines from Marques de Casa Concha, a premium label, accompanied by gourmet cheese. Once you've met your match, visit the wine shop where the full assortment of ultra-premium Concha y Toro wines are available for sale as well as books and souvenirs to commemorate your visit.

The first trip was a visit to the central town of Santiago. The tour covered many places town square, cathedrals, points of interest. Overall it was very enjoyable, especially with our guide Maryann to explain all about the city. The second part of the excursion was a trip to the Concha y Toro winery. We were able to see now the grapes are grown and stored. There was even wine samplings.
City Sightseeing - the tour was ok. Our tour guide left a lot to be desired. I don't feel like I learned a lot and I spent a lot of time just trying to keep up with her. It was only 5 of us in the tour group, but 3 of us were English speakers and 2 of us were Spanish speaking. She spent more time engaging with Spanish speakers than English speakers. There was not a lot of time to take photos and it all felt rushed. One highlight though was seeing flamingos an black and white swans. Concha y Toro - Was better than the city tour. Our driver was very nice and gave us information about the various parts of town we passed through to get to the winery and gave us some background on Chilean wine. The actual tour on the winery was great. We were able to taste grapes, taste wines, and tour the facility.
Marco was amazing! We ended up getting a private tour and the winery was amazing. Would highly recommend this tour.
A one day tour of Santiago and the winery was excellent. We were able to combine both morning and afternoon into one with a lunch at a local village restaurant with dirt floors . It was quality food and inexpensive. The tour of Concha y Toro is a must.
