This was an outstanding tour. Our tour guide was Mick. He met us at the hotel. We went to the coast where we viewed penguins, and partook in a very extensive and educational wine tasting. We also visited an Alpaca farm where we were fortunate to meet the owner and listen to the history of the farm and Alpaca research. Also visited a small winery Flaherty Wines where we had lunch served by the owner. Mick was most informative and an exceptional tour guide. Highly recommended.
We cannot recommend this tour enough to visitors to Santiago! Mick has an extensive knowledge of local wines and is excited to share that knowledge with you. We had the opportunity to taste a variety of excellent Chilean wines that we would otherwise never have known about. We had a wine tasting on an absolutely gorgeous beach, where we also had the opportunity to view magellanic penguins and other local wildlife. We also had the opportunity to tour the Quintessence Alpaca farm and to learn a lot about raising alpacas and processing their wool to make yarn and fabrics. We were also able to get up close with the baby and young alpacas. The owner of the farm is a wonderful and kind lady who built the entire operation up from scratch. We also had the opportunity to visit Flaherty Wines to taste their wines and were lucky enough to have Ed, from the husband and wife team who own the winery, give us our tour. The wines were superb, and we hope to return when they have their onsite kitchen open for lunch. Overall, this tour one of our favorites in Chile, and we would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Santiago with an interest in wine and wildlife.
First of all Mick was amazing. Comfortable ride to sites, great stories and explanation of things along the way. The penguins WERE THERE! Amazing area, we got to explore for a while after sampling 3 wines on the beach. The Alpaca farm was amazing as we got to experience them running all around us at one point. The winery visit was very intimate. The winery was small, but we got to interact with the owners and walk the grounds. Pick up and drop off were on time. I'd easily recommend this tour to anyone looking to do something outside of Santiago.
