In Depth Introduction of the Ramon Crater

From your hotel you’ll be picked up with your jeep for the tour. We will make a brief introduction and venture off down to the crater. Going down into the crater you could already appreciate the dramatic scenery of an erosion crater. When going off the paved road and into the Ramon dry riverbed, we will have a break to learn on the beauty and complexity of an erosion crater (occurring only in the Negev region). We will then continue on a challenging path up the Gvanim Mountain. There we will stop again and you could enjoy a panoramic view of the crater and some more explanations of the crater history geology and more. Going down from the Gvanim mountain into the reptiles Wadi, you will witness the most ancient layers of the crater unravel with brilliant colors. From there through the Gvanim ephemeral wash we will continue to Ein Saharonim – the only constant water source of the crater. Finally through the Nekarot wash we will reach the Ardon dry riverbed where you could watch and learn of the incredible geological Dike phenomenon and encountered a small dormant volcano hill. On our way we will also stop for a snack break (coffee/tea and cookies guaranteed). Throughout the tour we will be discussing desert wild-life, botanic, geology and whatever is on your mind to ask our local knowledgeable and friendly guide. Lastly we will go back up again to Mitzpe Ramon and drop you off on a destination to your choice within town.
