About this activity
After hotel pickup in Seoul, board the comfortable coach for a drive to the Han River, where your casual culinary experience takes place. Join the locals at a riverside locale, where your guide will help you order chimac, one of Korea’s most beloved snack-drink combinations.
This signature blend mixes the English term for fried chicken and the Korean word for beer (maekju), creating a sensation known as ‘chimac (or chimaek) fever.’ Settle in on the riverbank for a picnic-style gathering with city residents who come here to relieve stress, relax and talk over chimac — especially after a long day at work.
With scrumptious fried chicken in one hand and a cold beer in the other, enjoy people-watching against the backdrop of the Han River and bustling Seoul at night. Your guide will share knowledge of the history of the Han River and its importance to Seoul and give you an insider’s perspective on Korea’s food culture, using the simple snack of chimac as a springboard. Even if this is your first visit to Seoul, this evening experience will give you a real local feel for the city and the country.
Once your appetite is stated, reboard the coach for drop-off at your hotel.

It had rained all day and we were surprised there was no inclement weather provision. Our guide was very nice and picked us up and dropped us off at the hotel but here's the gist: he took us to an outdoor picnic area on the Han River and made us sit on wet chairs and table you would think he would bring towels or something, given that it rained all day, and he gave us a box of fast food fried chicken and 2 malt beers and said he would be back in an hour. I don't drink anything carbonated and requested water which he provided. The setting was nice except for the sitting in wet chairs and eating off a wet table with no napkins provided either. What is worse, is on the hike back to the van, my husband fell in a rain puddle and injured his leg and wrist, not the the point that he needed to go to the hospital, but enough to affect him for the following three days. We should NOT have been walking in the dark on wet, slippery grounds. You would think the guide would bring a flashlight. Then again, it was our only bad experience on this trip. Do NOT buy this tour. We got no information about the area other than it was a popular park and in a scene from an Avengers Movie. The buildings were pretty with lights at night, but again, we left in soggy bottom pants and my husband had sustained a fall that could have been prevented had there been an inclement weather cancellation provision or if the guide had better prepared with finding us a place to eat that was NOT wet.
This was a very neat tour in that it included a picnic at sunset on the Han River where we learned how the locals interacted in Seoul. The tour started off with a picnic dinner of fried chicken in the park with an upfront view of the Han River Bridge. The guide went above and beyond and even took us to the tower as well.
