There are many scenic spots around people's square, such as the new Municipal Government Mansion, Shanghai Museum, Shanghai Grand Theater and the Urban Planning Exhibition Hall. Along the south side of the People's Avenue, there are several large underground structures, including Hong Kong Famous Brands Street and Dimei Shopping Center, the largest underground city transformer substation of Asia and the largest underground parking garage of Shanghai.

Located in the center of Shanghai in People's Square, Shanghai Museum is a large museum of ancient Chinese art. Its style and presentation surround visitors with artifacts demonstrating ancient wisdom and philosophy. The exterior design of the round dome and the square base symbolizes the ancient idea of a round heaven and a square land.
The museum is divided into eleven galleries and three exhibition halls. The eleven galleries cover most of the major categories of Chinese art: Ancient Bronze, Ancient Ceramics, Paintings, Calligraphy, Ancient Sculpture, Ancient Jade, Coins, Ming and Qing Furniture, Seals, and Minority Nationalities. The Jade Buddha temple was founded in 1882 with 2 original Jade Buddhas that were imported from Burma. It later also received a large marble Buddha from Singapore. It was destroyed during the fall of the Qing Dynasty but the Buddha’s escaped destruction, and a new temple was founded on the original site in 1928. It remains an incredibly well maintained and peaceful temple today.

The new landmark of Shanghai, the tallest building in Shanghai with a total height of 632 meters. The 118th floor of the tower has a sightseeing hall called the Top of Shanghai. The building is equipped with a rapid elevator to the top floor – its speed can reach 18 meters per second, so you can reach the top sightseeing hall within 55 seconds.
