About this activity
At 9:00am, your tour guide will welcome you at your hotel lobby and your day tour starts with an immersion in the old town area, admiring the famous Yu Yuan Garden and the annexed Bazaar. The Bazaar is a commercial area crowded with lots of artisans' workshops, vendors selling souvenirs, hand-made crafts, folk crafts and packed snacks. The stroll through the Bazaar features also the magnificent Zigzagging Bridge, which will lead you to the Yu Yuan Garden, the largest and most famous among the historic gardens of Shanghai (Built in 1559). Right next to the Bazaar, you will visit the City God Temple, a Taoist Temple hosting some of the finest representation of the Taoist gods and religious mythology.
You will then be able to admire an Old Style Shanghai Neighborhood area with Shikumen architecture and a Local Fresh Market (Wet Market).
Lunch will take place at one of the top ranked Shanghai local cuisine restaurant or upon request at one restaurant of your choice.
After lunch, you will walk a bit on the pedestrian East Nanjing Road, then with a jump into the modern world, the Bund Area will be your next stop. The Bund is among the top ten Shanghai attractions and it presents itself just like an open-air gallery of international architectures with a focus on historic European style buildings. It's the showcase of the city's colonial past and its transformation throughout the 20th century. It was also known as "the Wall Street of the Far East" in the colonial period. You will visit the original HSBC Bank building (it's now Pudong Development Bank) and the Peace Hotel and its history gallery.
Lujiazui Financial and Trade Zone is the perfect conclusion for your journey through the history and highlights of the city. Lujiazui is not only the financial and trade center of Shanghai and the entire China, but it is also a collection of the most impressive skyscrapers of the entire Far East continent. Optional, get panoramic bird view of city from 100th floor of Shanghai World Financial Center (depending on the weather).
Back to the hotel or location in downtown area of your choice.
