Namo Buddha Half Day Tour
According to legend, there once was a prince named Mahasattya who offered himself to a starving tigress and her baby cubs. Today, the Namobuddha, situated at an altitude of approx. 2,500m, marks the commemorative site of this incredible tale – a remarkable story to keep in mind as you journey through paved roads, rough trails, and rice terraces. Along the way, stop by Thrangu Tashi Yangtse Monastery, home to 250 monks. If you are lucky, you may even get to hear the hauntingly beautiful recital of the monks as they chant Buddhist mantras. Once at the Namobuddha, take in the grandeur of the temple, stupa and shrines on-site. Typically a multi-day pilgrimage, this half day trip takes you through the same local villages in a single day. Descend the mountain by car and stop at the ancient village of Dhulikhel. Stroll the narrow ancient cobbled laneways which are typical of a medieval city, before heading back to Kathmandu in time for dinner.
