This was a fabulous experience and well worth it! Our tour guide, Ace, showed us around the island, explaining its history and was able to personalise it so that we visited key areas and addresses linked to our family's history. We learnt so much about not only WW2 but also modern day Singapore so thumbs up for Ace and Right tours. However, thumbs down for Viator. I sent them 5 emails asking for confirmation of the tour as I didn't recieve anything and kept being told that the tour was inorder. I did ring Right tours as soon as I reached Singapore and later discovered that there had been a computer error and it was only as a result of my call that they traced the booking. So definitely do this tour if you have any interest in Singapores history but DO make sure you receive a confirmation from the tour operator in Singapore. This could have been a very different review had I not kept checking and actually phoned as soon as I got to SG.
Ace did the best tour of the sites where the Japanese came into Singapore. Very informative and really enjoyed my self in learning much more than I knew about the fall of Singapore.Thank you Ace for a great tour.
Excellent tour by a very accomplished and knowledgeable guide
This is a terrific tour which was also in part an adventure and exploration. I won't go any further on this. I want to thank Ace my tour guide for a great day out and I will continue where we left off in the near future
Very limited information from our tour guide, he was more of waiting questions to answer instead of providing more information
Ace was an excellent tour guide. We appreciated his enthusiasm, his flexibility and his knowledge. We also appreciated his patience!! Being highly interactive travellers, there was a lot of discussion! I wouldn't hesitate in highly recommending him. By the end of the tour we had a comprehensive overview of the attack on Singapore and life in Singapore during the occupation. We learned a large number facts that we had not known previously - particularly about Operation Matador and the role in played in the war in South East Asia. The only thing I would change would be to visit the museum at the Old Ford Factory before the visit to the Changi Prison museum. The guided tour we received at the Old Ford Factory consolidated what we had learned from Ace, whereas we didn't really have enough info at our fingertips when we visited the Changi museum. All in all, Ace's tour is an absolute must. Definitely the highlight of our visit to Singapore.
